Re-Opening

Manly Memorial Baptist Church

In-person worship will resume in November. The exact date will be announced soon.
Sunday Sermon, Midweek Encouraging Word, and on-line hymns will still be available.
At that time, there will be two options for worship:
 in person in the Sanctuary
 streaming the Sermon via the church Web Site or on Facebook
We will continue to monitor for stabilization in the numbers providing perspective on the corona virus in the Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County area. The positivity rate and other related data will be monitored. The Deacon Body will continue to utilize this health data to determine when and if the schedule needs to change. Please check manlybaptist.com and the Covid-19 link for updates.
We will not be providing worship care for preschool children or children’s worship for elementary school-aged children for the first few services. The church plans to add Sunday Bible Study classes, as well as youth and children’s programs in the near future.
The following guidelines and instructions are for your safety and are based primarily on those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health.

Everyone attending worship:

 If you plan on attending please let us know by the Thursday prior to the service by filling out the WORSHIP SERVICE SIGN-UP FORM provided on the church website  or by calling the church, (540) 463-4181.
You will be asked if you and your family members are free of fever or other symptoms and have not been in contact with a COVID-19-positive individual for 14 days.
Due to the limits placed on attendance for social distancing within the sanctuary, attendance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The earlier you can let us know, the better.
If you or someone in your home is not feeling well on Sunday morning, please stay home for the safety of all.
When you arrive, your temperature will be taken with a scanner.
You will need to wear a face mask, without an exhalation valve, covering your nose and mouth at all times. We encourage you to bring your own mask. Single-use masks will be provided as needed.
Please observe six-foot physical distancing from others (excluding your family) at all times. Because of this necessary guideline, seating in the sanctuary will be limited to 40 people with overflow seating in the balcony.

Entrance and exit for worship:

Enter the building through the Main Street Side entrance door (ramp). Doors will be propped open. Please maintain six-foot distancing between you and the person/family arriving before you.
Entrance to the Sanctuary will follow a posted layout with assistance from ushers. Doors will be propped open. If you need to exit the Sanctuary during the service, please exit through the main doors opening to Main Street.
Greeters and ushers will be at the entrance and in the Sanctuary to answer questions and provide seating directions as needed.
Exit from the Sanctuary following the service will be though the main entrance to the church opening onto Main Street. Doors will be propped open.
Everyone will exit the Sanctuary immediately following the conclusion of the service. Again, please maintain six-foot distancing as you exit.

Sanctuary preparations for worship:

The Sanctuary will be sanitized before and after each service.
 All hymnals and Bibles have been removed from the pews. We encourage you to bring your own Bible.
Seats will be marked on the pews.
 There will be special sections for families. Ushers will direct you and your family to them.
 There will be no beverages permitted in the Sanctuary.
 There will be no meet-and-greet time at the beginning of the service.
Pre-recorded music will be used during the service. The organist will be available to provide live organ music that will assist with the direction of the service, but there will be no congregational singing or choir. Responsive readings will be allowed.
No items may be passed between attendees who are not family members.
 Please place your offering in designated containers as you enter or leave the Sanctuary. We will not be passing the offering plates. We strongly encourage online giving at manlybaptist.com/give or mailing your gifts to the church.
 When our congregation celebrates communion, we will place sealed individual communion cups in the pews. Once the service concludes, please dispose of the containers in receptacles as you leave.

Restrooms:

 Only the men’s and women’s restrooms in the hall outside the office will be open for general use.
 All restrooms will be single occupancy. We have changed faucets, toilets, urinals, lights and soap dispensing to hands-free operation.
 A church member will be stationed at the entrance to each restroom. Restrooms will be sanitized after each use.
 The handicap restroom will be available but only for a person having to have that accommodation.

Other facility preparations:

Hand sanitizing stations will be located at all entrances and exits, and throughout the building.
All frequently contacted surfaces will be disinfected at least daily.
All interior doors, except restroom doors, will be propped open to avoid contact with door handles.
Hand-sanitizing stations and paper towels will be provided at restroom doors.
Assisted listening devices will be available upon request.
